BYCO is an Agricultural Export Company devoted to distribution of coconut by-products, specifically cocopeat and fibers sourced from husks that have traditionally been deemed as agricultural waste.
We have a strong team of R&D Scientists devoted to developing products from coconut agricultural waste.
Our team has R&D expertise, leveraging cutting-edge technology to transform coconut agricultural waste
(i.e. husks and shells) into a diverse range of sustainable products, offering eco-friendly solutions while reducing environmental impact.
The Philippines ranks second globally in coconut production, producing 14 million metric tons per year. The vast quantity of coconut husks generated poses a problem, necessitating effective disposal methods.
Current disposal practices, such as widespread burning or indiscriminate dumping, contribute to environmental burden of one of the largest agricultural industry in Asia.
The burning of coconut husks releases greenhouse gases into the air, worsening air quality in affected regions, impacting the health and well-being of millions of people and the planet.
Immediate action is needed to establish sustainable methods for productive utilisation of coconut agricultural waste. By doing so, we promote ecological responsibility within the coconut-producing regions of the Philippines.
Our mission is to address the environmental impact of one of the largest agricultural industry in South East Asia, while simultaneously empowering farmers and communities. By offering alternative solutions and avenues for supplementary income, we aim to break the cycle of dependency on harmful practices. Through innovation and collaboration, we envision a future where agriculture thrives in harmony with nature.
Yet, our aspirations extend beyond local borders. We strive for a global impact, one that transcends industries and boundaries. By pioneering advancements in bioenergy, agriculture, and construction materials, we seek to create a ripple effect that resonates across the fields of agriculture, bioenergy, and construction materials.
BYCO
Cocopeat is used in agriculture as a soil substrate due to its superb moisture retention capability, high nitrate content, and anti-fungal properties.
Cocofiber, derived from coconut husks, is employed as a natural reinforcement for concrete mixes, wall heating insulation, and sound dampening, as well as for soil erosion control.
Introducing our pioneering R&D scientists! They're on a mission to transform coconut agricultural waste into groundbreaking solutions, blending expertise in traditional agricultural wisdom and cutting edge science for a sustainable tomorrow.
